The solar energy of Abengoa will be located in the town of Maria Elena in Region II and will have 210 MW, 110 MW of concentrating solar thermal power tower 110 and 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV).
The solar energy plant of Abengoa will be located in the town of Maria Elena in Region II and will have 210 MW, 110 MW of concentrating solar thermal power tower 110 and 100 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV).
The local branch of the Spanish renewable energy company Abengoa presented Friday to Service Environmental Assessment ( SEA) of Chile 's environmental impact statement of a concentrated solar thermal power project called "Solar Plant Cerro Dominador" to be located in the commune of María Elena in region II and contemplate investing $1,300 million and generate 210 megawatts.
The company said the project involves the construction and operation of a solar power plant that will consist of two units, namely a concentrating solar power tower technology of 110 MW with storage and photovoltaic solar power technology with 100 MW.
"Additionally, solar energy the project will have a substation and transmission line to supply power to the Northern Interconnected System (SING )," explained the company.
Abengoa Solar Chile explained that "concentrated solar thermal tower technology provides a set of mirrors ( heliostats ) that track the sun on two axes, concentrating solar radiation onto a receiver at the top of the tower. In the receiver where it is transferred the heat transfer fluid to produce steam. vapor generated feeds a steam turbine capable of producing around 110 MW. Likewise, the center has a thermal storage system, sufficient to operate the plant several hours after sunset, giving this technology a high degree of manageability."
The project envisages as the starting date for construction June 2015. In addition, plans a lifetime generation 30 years, expandable to 50 years.
