On 10 December, at the General Assembly of the European Solar Thermal Electricity Association (ESTELA), Dr. Luis Crespo was unanimously re-elected for the next 2-year term.
The new Executive Committee for the 2014-2015 term is composed of the Association’s President: Luis Crespo, four Vice-Presidents: Michael Geyer (ABENGOA SOLAR), José Alfonso Nebrera (ACS COBRA), Eduardo García Iglesias (PROTERMOSOLAR) and Nikolaus Benz (SCHOTT SOLAR) and two Members: Ignacio Rebollo Rico (ACCIONA) and Marco Simiano (ALSTOM POWER).
Dr. Luis Crespo was appointed unanimously as President by the ESTELA General Assembly for another two years on 10 December in Brussels. Crespo is eager to continue to support the core work and further increase the action of the Association between European and Mediterranean regions in his second tenure, especially after the enlargement of geographical scope of ESTLA to the MENA region.
The key priorities of the new Executive Committee will be to strengthen the visibility of the solar thermal electricity sector among policy-makers and increase their understanding of the sector’s contribution to restoring growth and creating jobs.
“During my next term, we will continue our work in four fields: 1. keep close contact and enhance dialogue with policy makers; 2. keep an eye on legislative and policy development in both European and Mediterranean countries; 3. maintain collaboration with multilateral institutions and colleagues across the world; 4. continue to support R&D and innovation. These are the main action lines for our new biennial work programme steered by our Executive Committee and implemented by our Secretariat, and close collaboration with our members and partners from all over the world,” summarised Luis Crespo his ambitions for his next term.
Moreover, the General Assembly also appointed Marcel Bial, the current Managing Director of the Association as of May 2013, as Secretary General of the Association.
We believe that this new team of Executive Committee of ESTELA will continue to bring constructive work and to promote the deployment of solar thermal electricity technologies in the European countries and other member countries of the Union for the Mediterranean.
