China Singyes Solar Technologies Holdings Limited has signed an agreement of intent for strategic development with the government of Minqin County in Wuwei Municipality, Gansu Province on its participation in the planning and construction of a 1.1.GW solar power station. The planned construction period will be five years.
According to the agreement, Singyes will consolidate and leverage its resources and advantages in the area of distributed power generation to support the development of solar power station for Minqin. The participation is also part of Singyes' initiative to contribute towards the establishment of a local green industry and a clean-energy development zone.
Minqin County is situated in the north-eastern part of Hexi Corridor (aka Gansu Corridor). As 94% of its area is desert or undergoing desertification, it has a unique advantage in the development of a photovoltaic (PV) power generation industry. The application and promotion of a solar power station can exploit fully the geographical and resource advantages of Minqin and provide key supports towards local desertification control and ecological improvement projects.
