Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has further reinforced its presence in Brazil, where it is already one of the leading turbine manufacturers, having signed two new agreements, one to supply 68 MW to CER (Companhia de Energias Renováveis) and another to supply 30 MW to Ventos dos Guarás I Energias Renováveis.

The agreement with CER includes the supply, transport, installation and commissioning of 34 G97-2.0 MW turbines at the Assuruá II, Assuruá V and Assuruá VII wind farms within the Xique-Xique wind complex. The wind turbines, which will be made at Gamesa's local Camaçari factory, are scheduled for delivery during the second quarter of 2015.
The contract signed with Ventos dos Guarás I Energias Renováveis, a joint venture between Atlantic Energias Renováveis and Casa dos Ventos, likewise includes the supply, transport, installation and commissioning of another 15 turbines of the same model at the Ventos dos Guarás I wind farm in the Morrinhos complex. These turbines will be delivered to the client during the third quarter of next year.
Construction of both these projects, which are located in the state of Bahia in north-east Brazil, is expected to finish in December 2015. Gamesa will also provide the operation and maintenance (O&M) services at these facilities for 15 years.
Brasil, one of Gamesa's priority markets
With these two new orders for an aggregate 98 MW, Gamesa has now received firm orders for the supply of 1,394 MW of its turbines to projects being built in the country's windiest regions. As of December 2013, Gamesa had installed 452 MW of capacity in Brazil.
Brazil is one of Gamesa's priority markets in the short and medium term. The company is also present in other Latin American markets, including Mexico, Honduras, Argentina and Costa Rica, where it has installed more than 1.90 MW of turbines. In 2013 this region accounted for 49% of total sales.
