Thetop15turbinesuppliersof2013, withtheirrespectivemarketshares, areasfollows:

1. Vestas - 13.2% (alsoheldtheNo. 1spotinMAKE'stop10listof2012)

2. Goldwind - 10.3% (upfromNo. 7in2012)

3. Enercon - 10.1% (upfromNo. 5)

4. Siemens - 8.0% (downfromNo. 3)

5. SuzlonGroup - 6.3% (upfromNo. 6)

6. GE - 4.9% (downfromNo. 2)

7. Gamesa - 4.6% (downfromNo. 4)

8. UnitedPower - 3.9% (samepositionasin2012)

9. Mingyang - 3.7% (upfromNo. 10)

Followingatough2012, theChinesemarketreboundedin2013, witha16% year-over-year (YOY) increaseininstallations. MAKEsaysthisstrongyearinChina - coupledwithcontractioninWesternmarkets, especiallyintheU.S. - pushedseveralWesternOEMsdowntherankings, asexemplifiedbyGE, whoseNo. 2spotwastakenbyChinasGoldwind.

GEneededroughly1.95GWofadditionalgrid-connectedcapacityin2013tomaintainitssecond-placeposition, apossibilityinanordinaryyearintheU.S.”

Despitefinancialstruggles, VestasmaintaineditspositionastheworldslargestturbineOEMin2013, andthecompanyhaswelcomedthenews.

Vestashasbeenthroughatoughtwo-yearturnaroundprocesstoreturntoprofitability,” saysCEOAndersRunevad. “Thatwesimultaneouslyachievedourfinancialgoalsin2013andsolidifiedourmarketleadershipisatestamenttothestrengthofthecompany.”

Accordingtothereport, themajorityofthetop15OEMssawmarketincreases, especiallyChineseOEMssuchasGoldwindandEnvision. AlthoughChineseOEMsexperiencedaverypositive2013, MAKEsaysitshouldbenotedthattheirsuccesswashighlydependentonthestatusoftheirhomemarket.

ExcludingtheChinamarket, noChineseturbineOEMswouldhavemadetheglobaltop10 - adistinctionthatMAKEsayshighlightsthechallengesincompetingagainstestablishedglobalcompaniesoutsideofChina.

MAKEsaysthebiggestwinnersfromtheWestwereEnerconandNordex, whichsecuredsomeofthehighestmarketsharegains, boostedbyarecordyearforaddedcapacityinGermany. ThereportaddsthatSiemenshadamassiveleadintheoffshorewindsector - reflectingthesuccessfulsaleofitsG4platform - butstruggledintheonshorewindsector, witha58% decreaseYOYinnewonshoreinstallations.
