The first solar-energy plant to produce energy for the Guam Power Authority is now under construction in the Dandan area of Inarajan.

NRG Solar began construction for the Dandan Solar Power Plant earlier this month.  Site Manager Jun Dayao says 100-thousand photovoltaic panels will be placed over 160 acres of land in the project. All the energy the plant produces will be sold to GPA.
“We will be building a underground transmission high voltage power cable going about approximately 5.7 miles... all the way down to Talofofo village, there's a substation there owned by GPA where the power will be delivered.” Dayao told PNC. “From there of course GPA will sell the power to the public their customers.”
According to Dayao the plant will produce 25.65 megawatts of electricity, enough to power 10,000 homes.
“The power that will be generated by this facility is estimated to eliminate about 40,000 metric tons of auto emissions,” Dayao said. “It's enough to power clean energy that will eliminate approximately 7,300 cars on the road annually on Guam.
NRG estimates that approximately 100 jobs have been created for the construction of the solar plant. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
