Lauren India recently achieved a significant milestone when the Godawari Green Energy Limited (GGEL) project produced power to the grid for the first time. The GGEL project, on which Lauren serves as the EPC contractor, produced power on June 5, 2013, making history as the first utility-scale solar thermal project in India to do so.
The Godawari project is a 50 MW concentrating solar power plant located in Rajasthan, India.
It is one of a collection of projects totaling 470 MW approved for development under Phase 1, Batch 1, of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission for renewable energy. Of the 470 MW slated for commissioning by May of 2013, the Godawari project is currently the only utility-scale project in commissioning, and is the first CSP project in India to produce power.
