Renewable energy company Greenko has commissioned a 50-MW wind farm at Basvanbagewadi farm in Karnataka, and has begun supplying power to the grid.

This is part of Phase-II expansion at the Basvanbagewadi wind farm, which includes 51.2 MW in Phase-I. Along with Mangalore wind farm of 15 MW and Matrix farm of 15 MW, which have already been commissioned, this farm now has a total capacity of 131.2 MW.
With the commissioning of this farm, the Greenko’s total generating capacity is 611 MW.
Anil Chalamalasetty, CEO of Greenko, said, “The company's strategy of building large farms in a phased manner connected to high voltage transmission systems enables Greenko to deliver predictable and profitable growth. We expect to reach about 700-MW operating capacity to capture the season.”
According to latest filings, the new farm has begun supplying to the grid and to global technology companies and commercial customers through a 10-year power purchase agreement.
This project has been set up with an investment of €45 million and uses Gamesa turbines. The project has access to grid and can evacuate about 180 MW. This was completed in October 2013.
The company expects to have an installed capacity of 1,000 MW by 2015.
