India’s state-run solar company plans to auction contracts to build 100 megawatts of solar-thermal capacity, a government official said today.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India will issue tenders for two 50-megawatt concentrated solar-power projects, Tarun Kapoor, joint secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, told reporters in Chennai.
Companies will bid to design and construct the plants, as well as operate them for five years, Kapoor said.
Solar-thermal plants use mirrors to focus sunlight on liquids to produce steam for turbines.
