AccordingtotheDECC, thedeveloperscurrentlyplantoinstallupto240 wind turbines, meaningtheprojectwouldbesignificantlylargerthanthecurrentlargestwindfarmintheworld, the630MWLondonArray, whichisalsointheU.K.
“EastAngliaandtherestoftheU.K. havealottogainfromthisdevelopment,” saysDECCSecretaryEdDavey. “Theprojecthasthepotentialtoinjectmillionsof [Britishpounds] intothelocalandnationaleconomiesandsupportthousandsofgreenjobs.”
KeithAnderson, CEOofScottishPowerRenewables, adds, “ThisisthelargestrenewableenergyprojectevertoreceiveplanningconsentinEnglandandWales, anditisasignificantachievementtoseeourplansapproved, andanimportantstepforwardtowardafinalinvestmentdecision.”
Thedevelopersanticipatethatonshoreconstructioncouldbeginin2017, withoffshoreworkstartingin2018andfirstpowergenerationachievedin2019.
