Nordex has secured three contracts for a total of 44.4 KW in Turkey, simultaneously widening its customer base in this important growth market. The company will be supplying six Generation Delta N117/3000 wind turbines for the Urla wind farm in Izmir.
This marks the first wind power project for Sancak Enerji and the first one with Nordex as the supplier. Nordex will be having the towers and rotor blades produced in Turkey.
The second contract is for nine Generation Gamma N117/2400 turbines and has been awarded by Yeni Enerji. With an output of 21.6 MW, the Yenihisar wind farm is also the first project for this company. Yenihisar is being installed close to the town of Aydin on the south coast of Turkey. Here as well, the tubular steel towers are being sourced locally.
Finally, Nordex is supplying two N117/2400 turbines for the Pitane wind farm in the Izmir region for Bicakcilar Enerji. This also marks this company’s first foray into clean wind power. The wind farm will reach a capacity factor of around 40% thanks to the average annual wind speed of 7.4 m/s at the site. With the rotor blades and towers also to be produced in Turkey, this project is as well characterised by high local manufacturing content.
Nordex will be executing all the projects between spring and summer 2015. As the towers and, in some cases, also the rotor blades are being sourced locally, all three projects will be eligible for higher feed-in tariffs. The reason for this is that if rotor blades and towers are manufactured in Turkey, the feed-in tariff of 7.3 US cents per kWh is topped up with an additional 1.4 US-Cent per kWh.
