The Dutch Council of State in Den Haag ruled that the remaining objections against the wind farm project Zuidwester are considered inadmissible or unfounded.

Thus, all necessary permits to build and operate the wind farm became irrevocable. Subject to the final investment decision, construction could commence in 2014.
The site of the new RWE project Zuidwester wind farm is located in the west of the Netherlands at the IJsselmeer.

In total twelve 7.5 megawatt wind turbines with a total capacity of 90 megawatts will be installed. These are the largest onshore turbines of their kind and they will make the most of the available wind regime on site.
Wind farm Zuidwester is part of the Dutch project called wind farm Noordoostpolder, in which several partners are involved. In total the Noordoostpolder project will have an installed capacity of 429 megawatt, which will make it the largest wind farm in the Netherlands.

It will comprise 86 wind turbines, to be installed both in the IJsselmeer and onshore along the dykes. This project will in average supply 400,000 households with green power.
