Alstom has signed a contract worth around €320 million with Renova Energia - leader in wind power generation in Brazil - to deliver, erect and commission 127 wind turbines in the Umburanas complex, located in Bahia State.
The wind turbines, composed of ECO 122, ECO 110 and ECO 100 models, will be delivered between January 2017 and January 2018. The Umburanas wind complex will generate 355.5 MW, an amount that can bring energy to around 700 000 people.
This new order is part of an agreement signed between both companies in 2013, involving the supply of more than 440 wind turbines, for a minimum installed capacity of 1.5 GW. The agreement also includes operation and maintenance services, for over €1 billion.
“Our partnership with Renova Energia is one of the largest onshore agreements in the wind industry globally. This new order confirms the positive development of this agreement, which aims to offer sustainable and clean energy to the population”, says Yves Rannou, Senior Vice President of Alstom Wind business.
The wind turbines will be produced at Alstom manufacturing unit in Camaçari. Alstom’s proven ECO 100 platform is the result of more than 30 years of experience. All Alstom wind turbines are based upon the unique and proven Alstom Pure Torque® rotor support concept that protects the drive train from deflection loads, ensuring higher reliability and lower maintenance costs. Alstom builds and operates wind farms globally – more than 2,600 turbines are currently installed or under construction in 200 wind farms around delivering over 5,000 MW. Alstom designs and manufactures onshore and offshore wind turbines in the range of 1.67 MW to 6 MW, providing solutions for all geographical and climate conditions.
As of today, Alstom has signed contracts for the equivalent of 2.5 GW of wind power capacity in Brazil.
