Solar power and wind energy sector has a bumper output in Spain last month as the two technologies fulfilled more than a third of the country’s total electricity demand. Renewable Energies in July covering 37.6% of the demand in Spain: 16.8% wind energy, Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) 4% and solar photovoltaic PV 4.3%.
Renewable energybetween January andJuly 2014generated48.4%of the electricity demandinSpain: 22.2%wind power, 2.3% concentrating solar thermal power and photovoltaic solar energy3.3%.
Themainlandelectricity demandinJuly, after taking intoaccount the effectsof the timing andtemperaturesincreased by0.1% over the same month lastyear.Gross demandof21,104GWhwas2.5%lower than inJuly 2013.
In the first sevenmonths of the year, adjusted for calendar effectsand temperatures, consumption was0.1%higher than lastyear.Electricity demand inthisperiod was142 203GWh, 1.3% less than inthe same period of2013.

The productionof wind power the monthtotaled3,659GWh, a28.7% increase onthe sameperiod lastyear,andhas led to16.8%of total production.
