Renewable energy developers will invest $7 billion in Brazil's wind power sector this year as the source continues its rapid expansion in South America's largest country.

But the sector must overcome supply chain concerns to ensure the success of new projects, according to Brazil's association Abeeólica.
"It's an emerging challenge but we have to overcome it rapidly," Abeeólica president Elbia Melo told state news service Agência Brasil.
"Last year we sold 4.7 GW. This means that we have to manufacture equipment. The development of the productive chain is probably the area where we have to pay most attention."
The forecast comes less than a week after Brazil's federal energy planning company EPE said wind's share of the national grid would rise to 11 percent by 2024 from 4 percent today.
According to government data, wind currently makes up more than 5 GW of Brazil's estimated installed capacity of 130 GW.
