EDF EN Canada, aunit of of EDF Energies Nouvelles, has completed the La Mitis wind power project in Quebec.

The wind farm, which features 12 Senvion turbines, is situated in the unorganized territory Lac-à-la-Croix in the MRC de La Mitis, administrative region of the Bas-St-Laurent.
Community partner Energie Renouvelable de la Mitis holds 30% interest in the project while EDF EN Canada holds the remaining stake.
Hydro-Quebec Distribution has agreed to buy the electricity generated from the facility under a 20-year power purchase agreement.
MRC La Mitis prefect Noël Lambert said: "The development of green and sustainable energy is a critical issue for our MRC and its 16 municipalities and the ability to share in the revenues from the sale of electricity while providing diversification of funding sources presents a great opportunity for the local communities to benefit from the direct impact."
EDF EN Canada chief operating officer Al Kurzenhauser said: "Through the entire development and construction process, EDF EN Canada has worked hand-in-hand with the MRC. Our partnership is based on a deep level of mutual trust and respect that has only been strengthened through the process of building the Project."
La Mitis is one of seven wind power projects awarded to EDF EN Canada in 2008 and 2010 via Hydro-Quebec Distribution call for tenders.
It is the third wind farm developed by EDF EN Canada in partnership with MRC. The other two projects include the 24.6MW Le Granit and 300MW Lac Alfred.
EDF will have placed into service 1,374MW of wind and solar projects in Canada by the end of 2015.
