Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, has lifted capacity under operation and maintenance (O&M) in Mexico to 1,000 MW, a milestone which reinforces the company's solid position in this business segment and complements its leadership of the Mexican market, in which it is also the largest OEM by market share.
Gamesa started up its Mexican O&M operations in 1999. The first post-warranty maintenance contract was secured in 2011 at the La Rumorosa wind farm; since then the post-warranty services provided by the company have grown exponentially to 722 MW today.
The company's deep service range, depth which is essential to achieving optimal wind farm availability and profitability, has driven the leadership position commanded in Mexico today, with a total of 1,000 MW under maintenance, a figure Gamesa expects to boost by 50% by the end of 2015.
Specifically, Gamesa has reached the 1,000 MW under maintenance landmark by signing a contract with Iberdrola for the provision of O&M services at the La Ventosa III wind farm located in the state of Oaxaca.
This milestone further strengthens Gamesa's leadership position in Mexico, where it supplies, installs and services wind turbines in addition to developing and on-selling wind farms. The company has installed over 1,300 MW of its turbines in Mexico and, in its capacity as developer, has developed and commissioned 244 MW, with another 70 MW under construction and a large pipeline at varying stages of development.
