Gamesa to supply 46 MW to ITC Group in India

Gamesa, a global technology leader in wind energy, makes progress in India by signing a new contract to supply 46 MW of capacity to ITC Paperboards and Specialty Papers Division, subsidiary of the Indian group ITC. 



The agreement calls for the installation and supply of 23 Gamesa G97-2.0 MW wind turbines at Tagguparthi,Andhra Pradesh State; as well as the operation and maintenance services. The commissioning is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
This new contract adds to the latest orders reached in the last month to supply a total of 230 MW: 130 MW to CLP India and 100 MW to Greenko, that might be extended to additional 200 MW.   
Gamesa strengthens its orderbook in India, boosting its local reputation as a credible turbine manufacturer. These agreements also highlight the stock placed in the wind sector in this economic giant at a time when as many Indian states are expressing the need to search for alternative energy sources to mitigate the scarcity and high cost of traditional fuels.
Gamesa is present in India as technology provider and wind farm developer. The company has installed over 830 MW and manages capacity of more than 700 MW under O&M agreements. In its capacity as wind farm developer, Gamesa's pipeline in India stands at 4,300 MW. India represented 12% of Gamesa's sales in 2012.
