The Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) is accelerating the pace of its public sector energy efficiency programme with the implementation of 18 new solar projects.

The Corporation is now inviting bids, from local and overseas contractors for the supply of 18 rooftop solar photovoltaic systems.  The systems will be installed at 15 schools and three public sector agencies.

“As the Government of Jamaica actively seeks to reduce the national energy bill, the PCJ is facilitating the use of renewable energy by public sector entities,” the PCJ’s Manager, Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency explained.

“The systems being installed under this project will collectively deliver 232kW peak power and contribute to the overall goal of reducing our dependence on non-renewable energy sources such as fuel,” he added.

The tender process, which is open to bidders from any country, is being conducted in accordance with Government of Jamaica procedures for International Competitive Bidding (ICB).

Interested bidders have until 3:00pm local time on Wednesday August 14, 2013 to submit their tenders. Bids will be opened at 3:15pm on Wednesday August 14, 2013 at the PCJ’s Head Office or Trafalgar Road in Kingston.
