The Mozambican government has plans to build a wind farm in the city of Inhambane and the project will initially involve appropriation of a wind farm that has been abandoned due to disagreements between its owners, the Mozambican Energy Minister said in Inhambane.
Cited by daily newspaper Notícias, Salvador Namburete said that one of the two South African investors in the Praia da Rocha Widn Farm, in the city of Inhambane, diverted some of the funds for the project, which led the second investor to abandon the facility.
The wind power project, which was inaugurated by the Mozambican President in 2010, included construction of a wind farm in the province, which would take advantage of the natural conditions of the coastal area of Praia da Rocha.
For Mozambican power company Electricidade de Moçambique, Namburete said, the Praia da Rocha wind farm was a benefit because it would increase the amount of electricity injected into the national grid.
