A 45 megawatt wind power plant will be constructed in Ereimentau, Akmola oblast, Kazakhstan to produce 172.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year.
The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the First Wind Power Plant (part of Samruk-Energo) have signed a loan agreement for a $94 million loan for a 10-year period to implement the project, the bank’s press service said.
It is the first ever industrial project of this kind in Kazakhstan, and will facilitate alternative energy sources development in the country.
“The project is of special importance at the threshold of EXPO-2017 that will be focused on energy sources for the future,” the press service quotes Kanat Dosmukametov, EDB Chairman of the Board, as saying.
The Eurasian Development Bank is an international financial organization established to promote economic growth in its member states, extend their trade and economic ties, and support integration in Eurasia. The bank was established by the Presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan in 2006.
