Gestamp Wind, the wind energy division of Gestamp Renewables has started the commercial operation of the wind farm Puerto Lima, in Naguabo, Puerto Rico.
The wind farm is composed by 13 turbines with Vestas Technology of 1,8 Mw each, summing up 23,4 Megawatts of nominal installed power.
This new Gestamp wind, wind farm supposes an investment of 90 Million USD.
Jon Riberas, President of Gestamp Renewables, Dionisio Fernandez Auray, CEO of Gestamp Wind, Javier Mateache, CEO of Gestam Wind North America, David Bernier, Secretary of State, PREPA representatives and Roman Blanco, President of Banco Santander Puerto Rico, attended the inauguration.
Punta Lima will be the first wind farm in Puerto Rico. This wind farm will generate 50GWh per year, reducing at the same time CO2 emissions by 43.000 tons in the country.
Javier Mateache CEO of Gestamp Wind North America stated “We proudly inaugurate this wind farm in Puerto Rico, a place where we feel at home. A county where we plan to keep on investing in the years nearby, collaborating with Garcia Padilla government the fulfillment of the established goals in the electricity fee and in the reduction of C02 emissions.” He concluded “Five years ago when Gestamp Wind was born, we established being here as goal and today I can happily affirm that we have achieved it”
With this new wind farm, Gestamp Wind has over 183,4 operating MW in the United States. To this, 965 MW in advanced stage of development in the locations of Oklahoma and Indiana are summed up.
