Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has been awarded a further project under the framework agreement signed with Finnish Wealth Management company Taaleritehdas in June 2012 for a total of 111 turbines. Nordex will now be supplying and installing eight N117/2400 multi-megawatt turbines mounted on top of 120-metre high towers for the Nyby-li wind farm, which is located in the Ii region in north-west Finland. In summer 2013 nine N117/2400 turbines for the Honkajoki wind farm - the first project from the framework agreement - went online.

Situated close to the Gulf of Bothnia, the Nyby-li wind farm is characterised by mean wind speeds higher than seven metres per second. Thanks to the configuration of the N117/2400 turbines, the farm will produce an annual yield of 78 GWh of clean wind-produced electricity. “The Nordex N117 is the optimal solution for our second wind farm due to its large rotor swept area and high tower. We are very happy to continue our co-operation with Nordex with a new wind farm installation since Nordex was able to create confidence and good basis for its operations in Finland by outperforming in our first wind farm in Honkajoki” says Taamir Fareed, director of wind energy business in Taaleritehdas Private Equity Funds.

Nordex will also be opening its second service point in Finland to provide local service for the turbines. The first one is located close to the first Taaleritehdas project Honkajoki in south-western Finland. The new service point in the north of the country will be looking after the turbines at Nybi-Ii as well as the Generation Delta turbines to be installed until end of 2013 at the port of Raahe.

“We are pleased about the sale of yet another N117 project in Scandinavia and to be able to service our customers in Finland even better with the additional service point”, says Lars Bondo Krogsgaard, a member of Nordex SE’s Management Board.
